What's the new evidence about mermaids? People can't get enough of them — even if it's a hoax! Animal Planet premiered their special Mermaids: The New Evidence on Sunday, May 26, and the staged documentary set a ratings record for the network. Animal Planet managed to hook 3. In case you missed them and who could blame you if you did , here are screen captures of the disclaimers briefly shown at the end of Mermaids: The New Evidence stating that the show is a work of fiction.
Interested in some good ocean science fiction? Why not check out Fleet: The Complete Collection also in paperback! I have to admit I showed this to my class marine mammal science after a heavy lecture day. Some of the commentary on navy sonar related strandings is actually not too off the actually science, albeit a little dated.
I was shocked to watch this with my child and take it in as real only to have to tell her a day later they lied to us not at all happy with animal planet.
I do NOT see how anyone can answer that. Here is what we know. We know Animal Planet created a fake documentary that even the producer admitted was a work of fiction. We know all the evidence for the existence of mermaids presented in that documentary was fabricated. We know that the aquatic ape hypothesis has been debunked for 30 years. So yes, we do know, without-a-doubt that the documentary is false and that there is no credible evidence for mermaids. Look, the ocean is a vast, unexplored frontier.

Any similarities to actual persons living or dead are entirely coincidental. Though certain events in this film are fictional, navy sonar tests have been directly implicated in whale beachings. The bloop is a real phenomenon. There is still debate about what it may be. User reviews 6 Review.
Top review. Don't be fooled folks I watched both of these programs "the original" and am in the middle of this new one as i type this dubbed "The New Evidence". But for these folks and more importantly the Animal Planet channel to even remotely project this is genuinely sound footage is ridiculous.
Now all that said, if you want to watch a great "fictitious program" or anything like it for that matter that comes off as being "legit" than by all means you'll enjoy it immensely if your into this sort of thing. But i'm really really ashamed of Animal Planet to put together something like this because i've always considered there programming educational and informative.
