Which model of boardshorts are you talking about Charles? The O make and have made quite a few in their time. My personal fave - Carbonation. I have to also add that I find all O boardshorts a bit too wide in the leg, but they still look pretty cool. I've found they are tight along the hips, but then fine once you get them arond your waist. I have the Rusted, which is my fav. No Charles, I'm a 30, and they fit around the waist fine. I personally think I look like a bit of a skater boy if I go too wide.
If you're buying Ruby Lenses, you should buy them at the Oakley direct, and not on ebay. I'm confused, Charles. You say they run small, but your normally wear a 32 and you bought a 30? That means they run large, no? And I've noticed that sizes are somewhat inconsistent from model to model, so it is difficult to generalize over all the board shorts. I usually wear a 32 waist pant, but I have 30 board shorts that fit just fine. Last time I checked, board shorts only came in one length.
Um, if you have a 31 length, they're pants, not shorts. Unless of course you are 12 feet tall. Charles, are you 12 feet tall? The inseam on my Drain O shorts is around 11".
I've not been impressed with the quality of the board-shorts compared with the regular shorts that Oakley produces. I've got about a dozen pairs from various surf companies Kirra is my leading fav. I find that their cuts are better, without the sometimes spotty quality of both material and construction of the Oakley stuff. Being a native Floridian, I spend a ton of time at the beach and on the water, especially when I work as a sailing instructor during the summers. Oakley is kinda lagging in this segment.
If they used better material and patterns, and some of the new gimicks I love the elastic fly, ie NO VELCRO, that is becoming more common , I'd be able to justify spending twice as much for the brand loyalty. May 16, AM. To me, the quality of materials isn't up to par with the surf companies.
If something feels good to the touch, and the material has a proper feel, it's generally of better quality than something that "lacks weight.
It's a bit coarse, and not as heavy as some of the competition. I took a look at a range of this seasons' boardshorts earlier in the week, they're not bad, but I couldn't find any designs that really grabbed me.
